| Honorary members as well as Swedish and foreign working members are selected by the Academy, while supporting members and corresponding members are appointed by the Council. The number of Swedish working members cannot be more than 40, foreign working members and supporting members not more than 30. A working member is moved into the category of senior members at the age of 70. |

The Royal Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folk Culture currently has about 220 members divided between the categories honorary members, supporting members, senior members, Swedish working members, foreign working members and corresponding members.
