Namn och bygd is a Nordic journal founded in 1913 by Professor Jöran Sahlgren. It is the oldest academic periodical specialising in onomastic research and the leading one in the Nordic region in the field of place-name studies. Published once a year, its contents include articles, reviews and an annual survey of onomastic research in the Nordic countries. Since Volume 28 (1940), Namn och bygd has been published by the Royal Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folk Culture.

Peer review: All scholarly articles, including short contributions, are reviewed anonymously by at least two experts in the field. The only exceptions are commissioned items, such as review articles and the annual survey of onomastic research.
